Alien enthusiasts have been scouring pictures of the surface of Mars and believe they have found the proof they’ve been looking for.
Joe White, 45, a space video journalist from Bristol, looked through images from the Curiosity Rover and said he has found images of a fallen statue which look like the head of an ancient warrior woman.
Mr White wrote in a video description on his YouTube channel ArtAlienTV – MARSZOO: “I found what seems to be a small feminine looking statue head on Mars in Gale Crater in this recent Curiosity Rover image from NASA.
“Only a few inches in size or less.
“It resembles a carved depiction of a female warrior wearing a helmet similar to some found on Earth from the middle ages.
“It has a possible emblem on the forehead and some very interesting facial features that look almost Egyptian in artistic style.
“This is one of hundreds of similar artefacts that I have found on Mars in recent years and may go further to show that there was an ancient and artistic civilisation on Mars in the past.
“The question is how long ago?”
Some of Mr White’s followers were convinced it was a statue.
Lauren Piantino wrote: “Definitely a statue of a head, side on. No mistake about it! whether it’s a female head, or a male head is hard to tell really.”
World of Retro Gameplay added: “That is definitely a statue head.”
However, others believe it is a part of a phenomenon known as pareidolia.
Pareidolia is when the brain tricks the eyes into seeing familiar objects or shapes, such as animals or faces in textures or patterns, such as clouds or the surface of a rock.
